French-German artist, He grew up in a family of artists and entrepreneurs.
After four years of masterclasses with the world-renowned artist Prof. Markus Lüpertz at the Kolbermoor Academy of Art (Bavaria), he is now establishing himself as an international figure. His works are featured in major collections. such as Deutsche Bank, SAL-Oppenheim, the Reinhold Würth Collection (Künzelsau), the Eduardo Hochschild Collection (Lima, Peru), the Inca-Cola Collection (Peru/Atlanta, USA) and the Reinhard Ernst Museum in Wiesbaden (Germany).
He lives and works in the Frankfurt am Main area, as well as on his estate in the heart of the Luberon..
Decastro has exhibited in major international museums such as Torrance Art Museum Los Angeles, ZONAMACO Mexico City, Pinta PArC Lima (Peru), Ulsan Biennale (South Korea), Museum Villa Rot, MoMA Manila (Philippines).
Haunted by themes of transience and transformation, DECASTRO regularly recovers his canvases — sometimes up to 80% of older works, stored for several years in reserve — giving them a new lease of life in which the sensitive imprints of previous layers remain subtly visible.
Unlike many artists, he refuses to be confined by the obligation of a visual signature immediately recognisable. His work evolves freely, carried by Pop Art, figurative or resolutely abstract phases, where colour plays an essential role and often dictates the pace of creation.
